Always passionately involved with what she does, actor Vedita Pratap Singh has been successful in winning many hearts with her impressive performances, both in the television industry and movies. She gained popularity with her stint in the popular television show 'Supercops Vs Supervillans' and soon became a popular household name with many television commercials. Born in Allahabad and brought up in Lucknow, the actor is slowly but surely climbing the ladder of success. She takes time off from her busy schedule to talk to Surupasree Sarmmah about her interests.

How do you spend your weekends when you are not working?

There is nothing in particular that I do during the weekend. Being in this industry, we don't really have fixed off days. When there is work, there is a lot of it, and when there is no work, we have ample time on our hands. Usually I use weekends to meet my friends. They work in different fields and we don't get to meet up regularly. We plan a film on a Sunday followed by lunch or dinner. Fridays are usually a good time to go out as it's less crowded. Fitness is an integral part of my life and I make sure to hit the gym at least three to four days a week. I love reading a lot, so whenever I am off work, I catch up on my reading.

Your favourite food?

I am a foodie and love to experiment with my taste buds. That kind of explains why I take my friends recommendations so seriously. I like to order my food and have it in the comfort of my home rather than stepping out for a meal. However, if I have to go out, I prefer to visit this place called 'Tap'; it has good food, nice music and one can just relax for hours. I love Indian cuisine but whenever I travel, I make sure to explore the local food. More than going out, my friend and I prefer to be indoors and catch up on what we have missed about each other's lives.

What are your hobbies?

I have varied interests. For example, I am a really good horse rider and would love to indulge more in that but it gets a little difficult in Mumbai. I have joined belly dance classes so weekends involve that as well. I was a national level swimmer and had been swimming till I was in college. Though I still manage to take some time out for it, it does get a little difficult.

Something that people don't know about you.

I love long drives as a getaways. Ilike going for overnight trips and spontaneous plans is always on my list. Goa, Lonavala, Khandala, Panvale and Karjat are some of the places I frequently visit.

How was it growing up in Lucknow?

I come from a family of five sisters and parents. I had quite a memorable childhood. Honestly, there used to be a lot of fights. And since we are so many of us of different age, everyone tried to put each others point across. This created a lot of noise in the house. It was fun when I think of it today.
