We all know actor Sonu Sood for being the tall, dark and handsome man who is funny and athletic. The characters he plays are sensitive and but also strong enough to beat up the bad men.
But he truly made a mark when he worked with the kung fu master Jackie Chan in Kung Fu Yoga. It was a special moment for him as well as he idealised the star when he was younger.
Sonu says, "Ive always been a huge fan of Jackie Chan. As a kid, I used to watch his movies and like the stunts he performed. And today, when I have done a movie with him and spent a year travelling the globe with him, I genuinely feel blessed."
Working with Jackie Chan also taught Sonu discipline. "Learning stunts from him and his team included waking up at 5 am."
However, he admires the man when he is off-camera as well. Sonu adds, "Jackie Chan is one of the most humble person I have come across. He used to feed everyone with his own hands - from spot boys, director to the actors. He never felt that anyone was small around him and he made sure that we felt special."
Though he isnt training under the expert anymore, Sonu still maintains his body. "I always try my best to maintain a balanced diet which is full of proteins like eggs, grains and lentils. I start my day with fruits, what flakes or muesli with fresh fruit juice along with an omelette made with eight egg white."
"Lunch includes a bowl of curd, dal, roti and subzi. I like to have a brown bread sandwich for snacks and end the day with soups, salads, vegetables and chapatis. Most importantly, my fitness mantra is to not drink or smoke," he says.
The workout regime also includes playing cricket with son Ayaan. "He is a cricket enthusiast and practices almost four to five hours. I believe that if he continues practising like this, the country will soon see one of the most stylish batsmen," he exclaims, proudly.
Its not just fitness thats his pastime. Sonu has a soft corner for South Indian movies as well. He says, "Since I started my career in South India, I do watch a lot of films. One of my all-time favourite movies is Arundhati. That film got me to the routes of all the languages and was even called the Shlolay of South. Im glad that I played a character in it."
Sonu recently finished filming for Kurukshetra, a film based on the Indian epic Mahabharat. "Playing Arjuna is one of the many special experiences. The film has a massive cast and it will be available in mostly all the preferred languages," he explains.
