Though she has been missing from the silver screen for some time now, Sindhu Loknath has been keeping herself busy.
The bubbly Sandalwood actor is excited about her new project, 'I am 30', a short film which she produced and acted in.
In a candid chat with Tini Sara Anien, the artiste talks about her absence from the screen, her new project and more.
Where have you been?
I have been to London to visit the Queen (laughs). On a serious note, I have been travelling a lot. Recently, I went to Coorg to enjoy the monsoon vistas there.
Are you on a break?
I'm not away from the screen intentionally. The characters I am getting are very similar to the ones that I have already worked on in the past. I got bored of doing the same roles. I am being choosy as I don't want to be stereotyped. What's the point of doing the same characters again and again?
Does your absence from the silver screen worry you?
When I am watching a film, I miss myself on screen. It does worry me sometimes but I am not tensed. I am positive that good scripts will come my way.
How do you keep yourself positive?
I've never been one to sulk when something goes wrong. I have always accepted that there will be highs and lows in the industry so I am constantly thinking about other things that I want to explore.
Is that how the short film happened?
That and the fact that I am someone who's been asked questions about 'settling down' and more. I see weird dreams and sometimes I pen them down into proper stories; this ultimately took the form of a proper project. The movie 'I am 30' is about the many situations and questions a 30-year-old unmarried woman faces.
Challenges you faced during the filming...
Being the producer and lead actor at the same time was quite a learning experience. Though it was a very small project, I made sure that all details were taken care off and that everyone got their payment on time. Remuneration is what most actors often crib about to the producers (smiles). We had a minimal crew and the movie was shot in a house, so there wasn't much to look into in terms of arrangements and more.
What else have you been doing?
I love to watch sitcoms. From short rom-coms to web series, I keep watching them on Netflix or YouTube.
What excites you about a project?
As an actor, we have the privilege to portray many lives in one life.
In the years to come, I want to be remembered for quality roles and out-of-the-box characters.
