Vardaan Arora recently made his debut in the pop music scene by releasing his single 'Feel Good Song'. After working on several cover songs on YouTube, Vardaan teamed up with Nashville-based record producer Kevin Leach and Grammy award-winning mixer Nathan Dantzler to create the self-written track.

In a chat with Puja Gupta, the artiste talks about his song and bond with music.

Tell us more about your song.
The meaning behind 'Feel Good Song' is reflected in the title. I want people to be able to feel good while listening to it, but on their own terms. There are many situations in which how we are supposed to react is decided by society. And the lyrics behind my single somehow defy that. The lyrics were written over three weeks.

Tell us about your
early life.
I grew up in Delhi and my love for performance was inevitable from day one. I knew I wanted to make a career in arts. I applied to the New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and rest is history. I've been living in New York off and on ever since.

How did you get into music?
Music has always been close to my heart. Whether it is to uplift my mood or to stay up-to-date with pop culture, I love listening to new music. But my first time in a recording studio was shortly after I graduated from college. I recorded a few covers for YouTube and fell in love with the process.

How would you define your music?
There are tropical house elements incorporated in it, but it's definitely pop music.

How do you see the present pop music scene in India?
India is a different landscape in my opinion. I make pop music here in the States, and I think other contemporary artistes who make their music here or in Europe are heard in India. However, commercially speaking, majority of the music being made in India is featured in Bollywood films.

What inspires you?
I try to draw ideas from feelings and/or moods I've been in at different points in my life. I like my music to be relatable and understandable so that's where all my lyrics come from. In terms of melodies and production ideas, I love music that gets stuck in my head. Listening to and being a fan of pop music definitely helps with that.

If not a musician...
I would go for something on the creative front. I went to school for acting and I still love doing that. I also grew up with an interest in graphic design.

Do you think there's any difference between pop music and dance music anymore?
Yes, there are certain overlaps. But pop music gives lyrics more significance. Dance music
is production-based. They're both great though and I'm a huge fan of pop music
with a dance influence.

Your future projects.
I recently wrote and recorded my next single. It's a little slower but still groovy. The release date is still up in the air, but I'm very excited for everyone to hear it!
