They say success is like the tip of an iceberg. Often people only see what is at the top and not what is below, in this case the dedication that the ICSE and ISC toppers have put in to reach their goals.

Jubilant toppers share stories of grit and determination while celebrating their success.

ICSE
Lakshya J ( SCORE: 98.4%)
Cambridge Public School
Lakshya is calm and composed in the face of victory. "I studied concepts that were taught in school on a daily basis. We had 'preparatories' in school and those helped a lot. The teachers were also very supportive," she says.

The student says she made it a point to study for at least three hours per day as the exams neared and has set her sights on making it to a prestigious IIT.

Her father, JagadishM, is happy with her marks though he says it was not his primary concern. "I told her to get the concepts right and not only aim for marks. Marks were secondary for us."

Vinathi V B
( SCORE: 97.5%)
Sarvodaya National Public School
Vinathi credits her teachers for her remarkable performance. "They taught me really well. Most of the portions of class 10 were covered in class 9 itself and so preparing for the exams was not tough. The three pre-boards we took also helped us understand the pattern of the question paper."

She stresses on the fact that how you prepare in the 3-4 months just before the exams play a pivotal role in your marks.

Vinathi is now preparing for NEET and wants to become a cardiologist in the future. Her mother Mamatha is proud of her performance and says, "She was calm throughout the exam time and wasn't tensed at all."

Krupa Sheth (SCORE: 96.17%)
Gopalan National School
Krupa Sheth admits that she was extremely scared as she believes that board exam results also depend on the luck factor, but her dedication and hard work finally bore fruit.

"I set myself a timetable and followed it rigorously. This helped me to cover large portions on time. It is also important to have a balance between fun and studies as well as proper sleep," she says.

Her overjoyed mother, Mugdha Sheth says, "We are so proud of her. She wanted it and she did it. Krupa wants to take up Biology and become a doctor later in life and she has our full support."

ISC
Shourya Avinash
(SCORE: 98%)
Bethany HighSchool (science)

Shourya Avinash is content with his score and says that a focussed approach is what worked good for him. "I love chemistry and mathematics. I just made sure that I was thorough with all the portions in our textbooks and didn't refer to too many reference books," he says. While his teachers also helped with detailed notes for most subjects, Shourya made sure that he made his own notes. "This helps in concentrating and revising subjects," he says and adds that he wants to pursue BSc Mathematics. His parents Avinash and Mona couldn't be happier. Mona says, "He has always been an independent child and never depends on anyone for help."

Madhuboni Bhattacharya (SCORE: 97.5%)
Greenwood High International School (humanities)

Overwhelmed by her results, Madhuboni Bhattacharya says that paying constant attention in the class and making notes have made her preparation much easier. "Iwas expecting 90% as that was how much effort I had put in. This result has come as a surprise for me and my parents too. I am looking forward to pursue English Honours as I want to work in a publishing house," she says.

"Her results have made us extremely proud. This has opened up new horizons for her. Now it's time for her to move out and venture into the world, away from the comfort of home. It's a mixed feeling for us," says an emotional Ritendranath Bhattacharya.
