Apart from 'Gumma Banda Gumma' being running for over 30 years now, it is also globally one of the most translated and adapted plays. The original in German, 'Max und Mili' was written forty years ago.
The play has seen several directors over the years and now, we have come a full circle. The current version of 'Gumma...' is directed by S Surendranath, the playwright and its first director, 30 years ago. The ageless story is the same while the motifs and times in which the plot is set has changed.
The reactions of the audiences both young and adults however remains the same,
of deja vu , of realizing that children and parents really need to have conversations with each other.
